This is a perfect example of Murphy's Law. What can go wrong, will go wrong. The thing is, people only notice the bad things that go wrong. For example (this is kind of random), but pretend you're in a car stuck in a traffic jam. You notice that the lane next to you is moving faster than you, so you pull into that lane. Then, oh no, you notice that the lane you were previously in is now the one moving faster! Yet somehow, you still manage to get to your destination.
People only notice the bad things. They seem to forget about the good things. Hey, that other lane may have been moving faster, but you got where you wanted to go, didn't you?
Take joy in the small things. Don't be pessimistic.
