- increase knowledge about environmental issues
- participate in activities/campaigns/social services/volunteer work of or donate to green groups to support environmental causes
- adopt a low-carbon/more environmentally friendly lifestyle

social level:
- implement policies promoting 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle, replace)
- tighten environmental laws (against pollution, smoking etc)
- support growth/research and development of green industries (recycling etc)

global level:
- all countries should endeavour to reduce carbon emissions through the signing of treaties/pacts etc
- encourage carbon trading to help alleviate global net emissions
- shift to use renewable energy e.g. solar, hydroelectric, wind etc
