What is a "digital copy"?

My new DVD comes with instructions to download a "digital copy". What is that? Why download an extra copy if I already have a hard copy on DVD? Would a "digital copy" be in high definition?

Digital copy movies are movies that can be saved into a comUter or device, so I assume your DVD player can save movies(digital copy movies), you can get it in DVD form.

A Digital Copy is one that you can download to your computer, mobile device, or other system that cannot make use of the DVD for viewing. Yes it will be in high def.

A digital copy is included, either on the DVD, a second disc, or as a download. ITis to play on your computer or compatible portable device, so you do not have to make an unauthorized copy from the DVD, which will not have DRM the studio can control.
