1.Let x be the age of son, 6x+x=42
7x=42
x=6
Therefore, the age of son is 6 and the age of father is 36
2.Let the price of a CD be x
3x=2(x/2)+224
3x=x+224
2x=224
x=112
Therefore, the price of a CD is 112. Since the price of a CD is two times of a book. Thus, the price of a book is 112/2=56
