(1) 108 sweets and 88 chocolates are to be shared among some children. If each child gets the same number of sweets and chocolates, how many sweets and chocolates each child gets at least?(Hint: Find the largest number of children first.)

The least number of children is 2. Each has 44 sweets and 44 chocolates.

The largest number of children is 88. Each child has 1 sweet and 1 chocolate.

(2) A man is going to cover a square floor with rectangular tiles of sides 14 cm and 18 cm.Find the least possible length of the side of the square floor.
2 |14, 18
---------
7, 9
2 x 7x 9 = 126
The L.C.M. of 14, 18 is 126
The least possible length of the side of the square floor is 126 cm

The H.C.F. and L.C.M. of two number are 6 and 108 respectively. If the two numbers are 12 and x, find x.(Hint: x is a multiple of 6 and a factor of 108.)
Multiple of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30,36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90, 96, 102, 108

6 |12, 6m
-------
2,,m

6 times 2 times m = 108
m = 108/12 = 9
That number is (6)(9) = 54
The H.C.F. of 12 and 54 is 6
The L.C.M. of 12 and 54 is 108
54 is a multiple of 6.
x is 54
