There was a much larger CME event back in February (all of the way up into the X-class, as opposed to these M-class events). Did your car still work? Did you even notice? No? Well. That ought to tell you something, shouldn't it?

yes. motor vehicles are already effected daily by the suns radiation which usually comes in the form of solar winds. they won't shut down or be spontaneously combusted, in fact the effect will be minute but it will be there.
