2.All extist in solid state except Mercury is in liquid state at room temperature andpressure.
3.They are good conductor of heat and electricity .
4.They are malleability and ductility .
(b) Give two ways of classifying elements
1.Elements can be classified based on their physical states-----solid ,liquid and gas.
2.Elements can also classify in to metal, non-metal and semi-metal.
(c)By what method can nitrogen and oxygen beseparated from air ? Briefly describe the separating principle of the method. The components of air can be separated by fractionaldistillation of liquid air.The liquid air is pumped into a fractionating towerand then allowed to warm up veryslowly. Different gases in liquid air boil attheirown boiling points, so they can be collected one by one.
