My comment as follows:
st3500418as ata is the serial number of your hard-disk, which belongs to the sizable manufacturer Seagate. If you have a pop-up coming out, probably your hard-disk has "Bad Sectors" which is now saving some key data sets like Windows or Program Files. You know, if they could not be read, the whole machine may not be able to boot up the worst.
In your case, you may first of "Right Click" your hard-disk drive and then select "Content" and then "Tool" to fix the bugs / bad sectors first. But at the same time, the most important thing is to copy all valuable data to another drive for avoiding lost. You know, all data are not protected. If you have an external hard-disk, copy all data to them. Else, use CD/VCD Burner to copy all data first as backup.
I wanna you to check if your hard-disk is still under warranty. It is because Seagate hard-disk has usually 5-year warranty service provided. I do not know how much time you have used. If it is within 5 years, you can contact them for repair free of charge.
The local contact phone no. of Seagate office as follows:
800 90 0474 ( 3112, Gateway, 25 Canton Road, TST )
Hope I can help you.
