Over 和 about 的使用上有甚麼差別 ?

Over something 和 about something 的使用上的差別 如下:
over or about something =關於= concerning something or about something
但over something 多了一層意思: because of 由於
e.g. an argument over money 為了錢而争吵
a disagreement over the best way to proceed 在如何採用最好的方法上出現的分歧。
In the two examples above, if you use about, it is grammatically correct but the meaning is not as good as over.

OVER = 超出, 超過, 以上

ABOUT = 大約

He is over 70. 他七十歲以上 (可能七十一歲, 七十二歲, 或以上)

He is about 70. 他七十歲左右. 他大約七十歲 (可能六十九歲或七十一歲)


有許多的 phrasal verbs, verb + about 和 verb + over 意義不同

兩個例子:

Get about = to go or travel to different places.
She is over 80 now, and doesn’t get about much any more.

Get over = to feel better after an upsetting experience
She never got over after the death of her son.

Go about something = start doing something
I want to learn German, but I don’t know the best way to go about it.

Go over something = examine and check something
Go over your homework before you hand in.
