These conjunctions are called correlative conjunctions. They always travel in pairs, joining various sentence elements that should be treated as grammatically equal. (called coordination)
1. either...or (不是...就是)
例: She is coming either today or tomorrow.
例: He neither drinks nor smokes.
not only...but (不僅...而且)
She not only wrote the text but also selected the illustrations.
both...and (既... 和...都)
The prospects both excited and worried me..
Basically, both (not only...but) and (both...and) are of same meanings. We can use not only (not only...but) but also (both...and) to join two sentences in a coordination pattern.
