PhD -> more prestigious than MBA?

I'm almost done with my MBA from a top school, but I feel that an MBA is not so prestigious and a lot of people out there have it. If I get PhD, will I be better than having an MBA?

A PhD is a higher degree requiring original work, so it's more prestigious. However, it's not always more useful. Very few jobs require a PhD, but it will leave you overqualified for many. A PhD in business is really only useful if you want to teach at a college, and those jobs are hard to get.

It depends on your field. My daughter is getting her PhD in engineering and it is prestigious. If it was in sociology, maybe not.

However, a PhD is a research oriented degree and it has a different application in the world and you may not make any more with a PhD, maybe less.

A Phd is far more prestigious, and a much more difficult degree to get. Any one with a degree can get an MBA, there are so many programs its really become diluted. Its still a really good degree to get if you get it from a top tier college, but otherwise not so much. Regardless, a phd is more prestigious, period. But not always better. Most of the time, it is though.

Ph.D is definitely the best of the best. Go for it.
