"I have no teeth to eat"

Does this statement mean

1. I have no teeth to bite or chew food, or

2. I have no teeth to put in the mouth and swallow them.

Sounds like what a dentist would say after a bad day at work go up to his wife and say i have no teeth to eat! lol

It should be:

I have no teeth with which to eat. - or less formally, I have no teeth to eat with.

Since literally eating "teeth" makes no sense at all, I would assume they mean option 1 - even though what it actually means is sense 2.

Technically it means #2. Under casual, everyday meaning, people would assume #1.

For #1, there is a word that is implied:
I have no teeth to eat WITH.

However, I'm pretty sure ending a sentence with the word "with" is improper. You would want to say "I have no teeth with which to eat."

Since teeth are not normally eaten, it can be taken for granted that it means, '#1'.

all that's missing is 'with'.

I have no teeth to eat with.
