'Carol' is a bit 'old' as it was a popular choice for girls 30 years ago. When people can't pronounce the 'r' properly; when people can't pronounce the 'r' in Carol, they say 'Ca wol' which sounds quite horrible.
'Alice' will make some people think of 'Alice in Wonderland'. Do you like the Alice in that story?
my preference is: Cindy, April (both are refreshing and sound smart and cheerful), Alice, Jennifer, Carmen (people will ask you how you spell it as there are a few different spellings and can be quite inconvenient), Carol.
