Plural / Singular?

先談談，family, committee等等集合名詞(collective noun)，其後可用單數形動詞，或複數形動詞，但其意不同

若用單數形動詞，則名詞被視為一個單位，如：

My family is a large one.（我的家庭是個大家庭）
The committee made the decision yesterday.（昨晚委員會作出此決定）

但若用複數形動詞，則是指組成集合體的各個成員，如：

All my family are musicians.(我的家人都是音樂家）
The committee are divided in their opinions.（委員會成員們意見不合）

有了這認識，你也可以知道
John's family are hawkers.是正確
