Airline liquid carry on rules?

Hello,
I'm embarking on a trip to China in a few months. It will be a very long haul flight (something like 16 hours) and obviously I'm going to want to freshen up along the way. I want to bring basic toiletries; toothpaste and deodorant (I think that's all). So I looked up the rules and they say no more than 100ml, which is fine, and a quart sized zip lock plastic bag. What size is a quart size (cm rather than inches please). And does it matter if my bag is a lot smaller (after all I'm only brining two liquids on). And does it matter if these have already been opened (my toothpaste for example has been used before)? Please be as exact as possible as I don't want to be in for a nasty surprise when I get to the airport. Thanks very much for any answers x

Just to clarify (because Our Man in Bananas seemed to get a little mixed up) the ziplock bag has to be a quart size (obviously not the liquid)

Instead of a quart-sized bag, a litre-sized bag is pretty much the same. A 'medium' Ziploc-brand bag is right about the proper size, and they don't care if the bag is smaller -- as long as it's not bigger. It's not like they break out a ruler and measure the bag; they just don't want you bringing too many liquids or gels on board.

confident, you have it maximum suitable suited. that's truthfully 3.4 oz or in case you field is metric that's 100ml. you have got as many as will slot interior the a million quart ziploc bag IF the bag closes thoroughly.

you can buy all that stuff in the Secure area in special Flight packs...

And in Boots!

It's not a quart size, it's 100ml per container maximum, and a max of 10 containers of liquid or gel...

and be prepared to taste any that Security ask you to
