Change a Smart HKID Card in NYC?

Hey, is this possible to get my new HKID in NYC instead of returning to Hong Kong for a new one? Perhaps, can I go to the PRC's NY consulate-general for renewing my ID card?

You MIGHT be able to get it at the PRC consulate. Go and ask or call them. But it's NOT a guarantee. You might be able to mail it back to Hong Kong. No need to travel there. Call and ask where you get your ID from in Hong Kong and ask to see if you can mail it for a renewal.
