I have such experience several times before, and I can always solve by myself. Let me share the procedures to tackle it one by one ( in order ):
1) For your modem box ( usually put behind the monitor ) simply remove all its connections ( links ) and re-plug again once. At the same time, please also remove the plug of the link connected to the box on the wall ( which shallows all wires under the walls ) and then re-plug again. See if this enables your work.
2) Check if the wire and the plug on the wall are alright without being affected by moist. Sometimes your online connection failed due to their failures.
3) Check if your broadband service provider is upgrading the systems for your residential flats and so the service is temporarily stopped a few hours.
4) If the problem still persists, your modem box may have internal problems that you need to call service provider for a replacement free of charge.
