Nude is versatile. It's not so much that I "prefer" nude, it just happens to look good with 90% of my outfits. Nude also does not require any color matching with respect to the rest of the outfit, as well as allows the natural tone of the legs to be showcased without disturbing the color balance of the overall outfit.Black is also versatile. With a cocktail dress, it can be provocative; with an evening gown, it is classy and elegant. In all areas in between, it can be used for more modesty or to look more sexy. It can also be used to lengthen the legs, to slim the legs, to focus more attention to the top, to accentuate lines, or just to match the outfit color in the absence of any other hosiery shades.
Thus it is not necessarily a preference for nude or black; the fact that they are the most versatile naturally means that they will be used the most often.

I've only seen pantyhose in those colours. There are vibrant leggings and tights, but pantyhose not so much. I think generally people who get them are going for a more polished and professional look (a lot of women wear them for work)

Because they go with everything..especially nude. Black is versatile too, especially with evening wear. Years ago I used to wear off white and navy pantyhose but since have given them up for nude as nude is just more natural looking and does a great job of evening out any blemishes, etc.

Nude/tan look good because it matches our skin tone but evens out any marks or scratches/cuts on our legs. Black give a more classy dressed up look. Most other colors are more funky looking and can be cute if done right. but black/ nude are the go to colors because they look best on us.

Because coloured tights don't go with everything whereas nude and black tights do. Also, if you don't want to make a statement with your tights but just want them to keep you legs warm.
Some people do wear coloured tights but they only work with certain outfits.

Black and nude match just about everything. Plus, when talking about a work environment, those are the most conservative/appropriate.

They blend with our skin best. If we wear white ones we look like Alice in Wonderland, and if we wear colorful ones, we can be considered too "loud". Personally, I do wear colorful ones, but that's why we wear those colors the most.

Because they can be combined with any color combination, especially the nude and tan. And good quality nice looking pantyhose have nothing boring about them whatsoever. I find going with bare legs instead is rather boring and dull.
