令 x = 4sec²θ

　x - 4 = 4sec²θ - 4 = 4(sec²θ - 1) = 4tan²θ

原式可寫成：
ln(x - 4) = ln4 + lntan²θ
　　 　 = ln4 + 2lntanθ
　　 　 0 ＜ tanθ ＜ ∞
又 sec²θ = x / 4
　 secθ = √x / 2
　 cosθ = 2 / √x
　 0 ＜ cosθ ＜ 1
