Joe Dimaggio hit in 56 straight games in 1941, however did you know that after the streak ended the "Yankee Clipper" started another hitting streak of 16 games. In total, over a 73 game period, he hit in 72 of those games.

DiMaggio at 56. The most notable recent ones have been Jimmy Rollins at 38, Chase Utley and Luis Castillo at 35

Joe DiMaggio, 56 games. Don't get your hopes up for it to be broken yet, Andre Ethier still isn't quite halfway there (he's at 27 games heading into tonight's game against the Cubs)

Joe Dimaggio still holds that record to this day set In 1941 with 56 games I'm surprised nobody beat that record because bonds did beat hank aaron's home run record after he beat babe ruth and he also beat sosa and big mac home run records after they passed mantle and maris and they passed babe ruth too season homer record.

But joe dimaggio's hitting streak still holds to this day
