I see some people (mostly women) put this plastic ball thing into the washing machine. I'm not sure what it does. Can someone explain?

Downey ball. For fabric softeners. It might be something too for preserving bras. Agitation can ruin the underwire.

to place your fabrics softner in. you in simple terms prefer one. Fill it to the line or 2/3 complete. close tight. Throw it in with your wash. It takes over from there. I in simple terms CHECKED IT OUT ON EBAY.COM...some thing completely diverse THAN i presumed. verify it out.

Mr. Steamy. You fill it with water and it steams your clothes in the dryer. It has little nubs all over it and is blue. I get the same results from a wet towel, which is what I do with wrinkled jeans and shirts.

It has Fabric softener in it, when the washing machine gets to the spin cycle centrifugal force causes the softener to release and go into the clothes
