I'm a guy and I can tell you that while the answer is going to be different with every guy, we don't really care enough for that to really change whether we like a girl or not.

My boyfriend likes my down and up in a ponytail. But its only because I pull out my bangs when ever I put it in a ponytail.

Guys wont really care, or it might just be me, my girlfriend can do anything with her hair and I wont mind, just never cut it very short and make it spikey, most of us men don't like that xD

Ye gods. Do you really think all boys (men) like the same thing? If you want a pony tail, wear it and they'll fancy you like as not. My hair's cut about two inches long all over and I get more offers than I can cope with. Most boys (men) don't mind all that much, but even if they do, there are loads of them around and you won't go short. Don't make yourself fit some imagined pattern to please men; take control of your own life.

Ponytail is for kids. Hair down is for grown-ups.
