Hey, my boyfriend stepped on a rusty nail (although ive heard it doesnt have to be rusty) about a month ago. He says he has mild pain, only around the puncture area when he walks.He thinks he has an infection and that he should cut it out with a blade =0!!!! how can i convince him otherwise??
He had a tetanus shot 4 years ago. Should he get another one?
He hasn't noticed any other symptoms.
If you dont get tetanus from a nail, can you still get an infection? and if so what do you do?
Stepped on nail...foot is hurting? advice needed?

Yes, he should get a tetanus shot. They are only good once, so if you contract tetanus, you need a new shot.
You can get other infections, besides tetanus. Cutting it out with a knife is idiotic; he will likely either not cut out enough, and therefore just cause himself pain without getting rid of the infected tissue, or remove too much, leaving a large open wound to get reinfected, or not sterilize his knife...in short, it's idiotic. Go to the hospital.
Or clean it out with hot water and some sort of antibiotic on it.

give him another shot!its a RUSTY nail!ofc he might be infected. He shouldve taken the shot immediately after the stepped on it. tsktsktsk...

Stepping on a rusty nail could get very complicated, like flesh-eating disease. I'd suggest you to take him to the hospital.
