3.(-1, -5) is a point on the curve y = 2x² + 3x - 4
y' = 4x + 3
Slope of the required tangent
= y' at (-1, -5)
= 4(-1) + 3
= -1
Equation of the required tangent:
(y + 5)/(x + 1) = -1
y + 5 = -x - 1
x + y + 6 = 0
