Pain in my foot after running?

2011-04-19 5:21 pm
I ran about 11 miles in a little over an hour. It was my first time running after about a 5 week break. Now I have a sharp pain in the outside edge of my left foot only, (not in the arch at all) about 1 inch infront of my heel bone. the pain is on the edge and almost ontop as if it curves around from side to the top. what is wrong and how can I cure it as soon as possible?

I have the same pain sometimes and have found that it is related to shoe support. For me, when my arch is not supported, the pressure goes to the outside of my foot. I would go to a foot doctor if possible, and if not that, maybe an orthopedic shoe store. In the meantime, ice it, rest, and just take care!

Well i am a runner and i have never heard about that before. But that pain in your foot might be from that 5 weeks that you took off and that is your body telling you that you need to start slow before you go for the big miles. And maybe to fix it is to heat it before you run and ice after you run and roll your foot over a golf ball or any small ball that you can find. Hey get back to me if that works and good luck on your running.

Wrap it and be careful, sounds like a pulled muscle
