1. There is a well-known Chinese saying which translates into English as 'Strict teachers produce outstanding students'. What is your opinion? Write an essay giving three reasons to support your views on the saying. Provide a suitable title for your essay.

2. 'Big business is not only about making money' With reference to the context of Hong Kong, write an article for your school magazine using this comment as a title. Give three reasons to support your views on the comment.

3. Every year, international newspapers rank world cities according to their qualities. Such qualities include affordable medical care, cultural activities, equal opportunities, good education, a fair legal system, and a good social welfare system. Write an article for your school magazine ranking the three qualities from the list which you believe are most important, and give reasons for your choice. Provide an appropriate title for your article.

4. You are the president of the Students' Union at your school. Recently, many of your schoolmates have told you that they do not like the way the morning assembly is conducted and that it should be changed. They have asked you to write a letter to the Principal. Write a letter explaining why students dislike the way the morning assembly is held, and suggest an alternative way of conducting it. Give three reasons to support your suggestion.
