yes cause you can buy and download ps1 games from psn, and no cause it wont read your
ps1 disc.

well newer versions like the PS3 Slim only play PSOne games.
whether it be the physical disc version, or the one you downloaded from PSN the PS3 Slim can play it.
PS2 games however, are not possible to be played with on the PS3 Slim. it doesn't have the necessities it needs in order to play them.

Yes, it's true. You cannot directly play PS1 and PS2 games on the new PS3 Slims. Just as Matt said, you can download original games, but you cannot play from the discs.
