Let the radius of the container be r cm.

Volume of the soft drink = Volume of the conical container

Pi ( 3.2 cm )^2 ( 12 cm ) = Pi ( r cm )^2 ( 9 cm )

( r/ 3.2 )^2 = 4/3

r/3.2 = 1.1547 ( -1.1547 is rej. )

r = 3.69504 ( to 5 decimal places )

Hence, the diameter of the conical container

= 2r cm

= 7.39 cm ( to 3 sig. fig. )

Hope I can help you.
