well when its to a negative power that means it will be moved to the denominator, so it will be

169^(-1/2) = 1/169^(1/2) which is a squareroot so the answer is 1/sqrt(169) which is 1/13

so neither of you is correct.

169^(-1/2)
= (1/169)^(1/2)
= √(1/169)
= 1/13

It is 1/13 is only correct answer as square root of any number is always a positive number.

Sadly, both answers are incorrect!!!

169^ (-1/2) = 1 / (169^(1/2) = 1 / ± √(169) = ± (1 / 13)

Don't forget that raising to a NEGATIVE power means ' one over the positive power'
