電視既英文係Television,簡稱tTV

電視英文叫Television，係由tele同vision兩個字夾埋。tele來自希臘文τῆλε，即係遠咁解，而vision係來自拉丁文video/vis-，即係睇咁解。television就將好遠嘅嘢傳返來睇。而中文因為係電器，就叫佢做電視，集中響用電身上。

Since the 1970s the availability of video cassettes, laserdiscs, DVDs and now Blu-ray Discs, have resulted in the television set frequently being used for viewing recorded as well as broadcast material. In recent years Internet television has seen the rise of television available via the Internet, e.g. iPlayer and Hulu.
