sine is always less than 1, so sine - 1 is less than or equal to 0

One more question to ask, why do you say y decreases monotonically with θ? Do you mean there is a max. value of y at dy/dθ = 0 but the y will keep decreasing when dy/dθ < 0? And how does it relate to find max θ for CP = CA?
