It is a leadership problem. The first thing to do is to find out why there is conflict, how it happens, personal problem or system problem.
When there is conflict between a senior staff and a junior staff, the causes could be personal, working pressure or either staff is seeking respect from the other.
If it is a personal problem for instance family problem, the team leader must allow time for the staff to solve his personal problem. With a personal problem, the staff will only divert his energy elsewhere and bring forth negative energy in the team.
There is unavoidably working pressure everywhere, every time. The leader must be able to identify a suitable opportunity to allow the team to relax, ease and gain energy. Continuously working under intense pressure does not work at all.
Each normal person requires respect from the others. Senior staff seeks respect from junior staff because he feels his seniority in the company. Junior staff seek respect from others including the senior staff to appreciate his ability to complete the work and the effort he puts into the work. The team leader must be able to identify if it is the cause. The leader has to speak individually to the senior and the junior staffs to help them analysis the causes. Once they understand with the help of the leading motivating the energy towards the goal of the team, the conflicts will go naturally.
Of course, there are other causes that are belongs to personal needs. It requires more in depth analysis by the leader.
