我成日第一次識個人都無野講,因唔知講咩,點樣可以打開話題?

If you do not mind, let me share with you my life experience.

I lived in Hong Kong and worked in the biggest company in Hong Kong (Police Department), n ow I live in US also working in the biggest industry (airline).

To communicate with others and to talk with people on the first day of work is not the same.

1. first day to work, I suggest you simply say, "Hi! How are you, I'm new to the job. Please let me know if there is anything I need to do, or I'm not doing right."

Talking too much on first day of work will attract gossip. Therefore, be an observer. Just smile!!!!

2. To ice breaking meeting friend is completely different. You can ask,"how are you? My name is xxx? What's your name? (then you can shake hands to show you're friendly)
Topics of conversation depends on situation. So it is hard to tell you what to say.

However, you can test the water by expressing your concern of news such as Japan earthcrack... Just be careful not to get into politics so quick.

Say something that you and them also know,e.g.:talk about the things in work,or some of your interesting thinks or even some pop sttars(ifyou guys like pp stars)
