NO..NO..NO..PLEASE..They could die..
I have found that the best household cleaner to clean cages with is Dawn reg dish soap..unscented..
Or...vinegar and water ..1 part vinegar to 3 parts water..
Always rinse the cage well.. hot water is best..but not necessary..
I have cleaned my cages with these two methods for many of years and everything is okay dokey.

Only if you want them die, especially young chicks
Birds are quite different from human being in many respect
Always remember one man's meat is another bird's poison!

I'd try to find a source of Novalsan or other disinfectant approved for use in zoos, etc.

There is a website (I am NOT an affiliate but I have ordered from them several times in the past) called LadyGoudlianFinch.com, which specializes in finch and canary breeding and health supplies -- very knowledgeable staff, very honest. A little pricey but worth it.

They offer several safe cleaners used by canary breeders. They can also answer your specific questions.

Thanks and good luck!

yes if used out of the room and rinse off afterwards should be fine as canaries do not chew.

as for any one else reading this it is not advised to use Lysol on a cage containing a parrot species as they will chew bars and could ingest residue from the bars.
