✔ 最佳答案
(a) Total banknotes = x + 4

P(picking $20 banknotes) = 1/3

[x/(x + 4)][(x - 1)/(x + 3)] = 1/3

3x(x - 1) = (x + 3)(x + 4)

3x^2 - 3x = x^2 + 7x + 12

x^2 - 5x - 6 = 0

(b) Solve the equation obtained in (a) x = 6

P(Total value of the banknotes is $30)

= P(1st $10, 2nd $20) + P(1st $20, 2nd $10)

= (4/10)(6/9) + (6/10)(4/9)

= 48/90

= 8/15
