Should I play Middle School Baseball?

I am thinking about joining my schools baseball team. Im in 7th grade and have never played before. I am pretty much ok with everyone on the team except one kid who I hate and could very well ruin the hole experience for me. I'm also afraid I'll look like an idiot out there if I don't hit or catch the ball. Please give me some advice!
