respect and empathy

There are a lot of ways in demonstration.

1) Each student should be polite towards the peers and teachers. This can be seen both verbally and physically, from the proper use of language, the adaptation of tones, the behavior shown inside or outside the school campus, etc. Without politeness, where can we expect the existence of harmony?

2) Each student should be taught in details that, before expressing any opinion either verbally or in words, he/she should first think of about whether such expression would damage the self-esteem, the relationship, the trust among peers and teachers. We need to respect the decision making of others, the opinions of others, which are key elements in democracy.

3) Each student should learn how to pay sympathy towards others. This can be achieved from some small daily issues. For instance, whether the student can offer help for the peers when they are in need ( I am not talking about some illegal / wrong assistance, say copying HW or making false announcement / telling lies ), like offering hands when they are carrying many heavy stuffs, returning the books / rubbers / pens when the peers dropped accidentally on the corridor / classroom, etc.

4) The school itself can organize some workshops / class periods to help generating the ideas, but the students themselves are the key to success. The family members can contribute if their lives have included such elements ( respect, sympathy ) normally.
