"among" and "amongst" are exactly the same in meaning. Both words mean the same thing, but “amongst” is the older form and is more commonly used in Britain than in the US. It's now considered archaic and overly formal or even pretentious.
So, it's better to use "among" in most situations except perhaps you're writing a poem.
