There is a difference between client and customer.
A client is a person who pays a professional person or organization for service and advice.
e.g. 律師, 會計師的顧客
A customer is someone who buys goods and services from a shop, company.
e.g. 超級市場, 餐廳的顧客
Typically, a business relationship is formed with clients, whereas that isn't necessarily the case with customers. Employer and employees of the shop and company do not need to know the names of the customers, but not in the case of lawyer and accountant.

Client depends on the protection of another. For example, A client is under the lawyer's or accountant’s protection.
Calling the client as a customer is offensive.
