植物做 photosynthesis 的時候是會同時做埋 respiration 的。因為生物時刻都需要 energy ，所以時刻都要 respire to release energy。

至於一棵植物幾時先會做到最多的 photosynthesis (即是 rate of photosynthesis 最快的時候) ，就取決於多種因素( environmental factors )。這些因素包括 light intensity ， carbon dioxide 的 concentration ， humidity 等等。由於空氣中的 carbon dioxide concentration 通常不變，因此最多 photosynthesis 通常發生在不乾燥的日子的中午時段。

Green plants respire day and night.On the other hand, green plants consume carbon dioxide and produce oxygen in photosynthesis during daytime, so that the plant do photosynthesis and respiration together. Under strong sunlight, there is net carbon dioxide absorption and net oxygen release by green plants because the rate of photosynthesis is higher than that of respiration.
