improve my stamina. play soccer?

I have played soccer for several years, but my stamina has always been my biggest weakness..

so i decided to improve my stamina by running every night, because no playground near my house so i just run around the nearby streets.

i am wondering how long should i run? or as much as possible? i mean don't stop until i can't run any more?

thanks i really want some helps

Don't overwork your body, that will only make it worse for you. You should start out with a short run, and than slowly go farther and farther every week. What I did was run a mile for the first week, then the second week 1.5 miles, third week 2 miles, fourth week 2.5 miles, and so on. Start out short, and slowly get longer. Try and do as much as you can without overworking yourself. Hope I helped, and good luck! :)

Hi! I play center mid and have ok stamina. I also play defense. I actually decided to join cross country at my high school and have managed to improve quite a bit. I have learned to just pace myself. As a defender, you get a rest when the forwards have the ball. Take that time to rest. Take deep breaths but be sure to watch the play. In time, with workouts, like a mile every morning, your stamina will build up. Can u join another sport like cross country? Try your best and good luck!

i think you should stretch, run for about 20-30 minutes each day, and remember to drink water! and you should run with about a 5 pound weight in each hand...it helps a lot!

As a coach, I can tell you that doing many short sprints is better for your soccer endurance than just running as far as you can. Try sprinting for 20 seconds, resting for 20 seconds, then repeating until you get tired. Every day, try to do more times than the last.
