我想問covalent substance 同 covalent compound 有咩分別?

書寫:
covalent substance: Tetrachloromethane, ethanoic acid, heptane, iodine

Colalent compound: Tetrachloromethane,ethanoic acid,heptane

According to you book's grouping, I think the covalent substance it means its any matter with covalent bonds only, while covalent compounds refer to the compounds that with covalent bonds only. As iodine is an element, not a compound, it is a covalent substance only, not a covalent compound

簡單來說,某種的covalent compound 一定是一種covalent substance,但是covalent substance卻不一定是covalent compound,因為substance 的定義是包括了compound,但是compound只不過是substance的其中一類。Iodine屬於一種element而不是compound,但是element卻是一種substance。

Covalent substance: any substances that has a covalent structure, i.e. contains only covalent bonds.

Covalent compound: compound that has a covalent structure, i.e. contains only covalent bonds.

From your list, iodine is an element, so it does not belong to 'Covalent compound'.
