Starting from the last correct line:-5/8=9/4w+2/8
Subtract 2/8 from both sides:
-7/8 = 9/4 w
Multiply both sides by 4/9:
-28/72 = w
Reduce the fraction:
w = -7/18

I did it the hard way but still got the right answer.
-3/4w - 5/8 = 3/2w + 1/4
-6/8w - 5/8 = 12/8w + 2/8
-6/8w - 12/8w = 2/8 + 5/8
-18/8w = 7/8
-18/8w/-18/8 = 7/8/-18/8
w = 7/8 X -8/18
w = -56/144
w = -7/18
-3/4w - 5/8 = 3/2w + 1/4
-6/8w - 5/8 = 12/8w + 2/8
-6/8w - 12/8w = 2/8 + 5/8
-18/8w = 7/8
-18/8w/-18/8 = 7/8/-18/8
