The answer is No.
Give you a simple example to illustrate.
"If the area of a square is 9, find its length."
Ans: Let x be the length of the square
x^2 = 9
x = 3 or x = -3 ( rej. )
If you put ↗ on "-3", the feeling is: You are cancelling the term.
But the actual meaning is: Such answer is not acceptable for in reality there is no length of negative value.
Hence, you need to use the word REJECTED ( i.e. rej. in short form )
to imply this possible value does not exist as the solution.
In HKDSE, you need to use "rej" to phrase out all unreasonable answers which can be found from the original equation. Else, 1 mark will be probably deducted ( depending on the marking of individual year ).
Hope I can help you.
