Why do people have a fascination with the Military?

Depends how you Been bought up, i want to join through me been bought up in military bases all my life as my dad is in the army

its not video games...

why does Italy have a fascination with pasta and pizza?
why does Canada have a fascination with hockey?

because they are the best at what they do. And the US is by far the best at what they do, and has by far the largest military

Because they are infatuated with Lady Liberty and the ground and ideas that she represents.

It is an honor like no other to say you gave your all to your country to protect her

@Fallout4 ~ we do not have the largest military, but we "ARE" the best at what we do. War Fighting.

Numbers don't mean a thing compared to training and if anyone thinks another country are better trained or better equipped than America needs to go back to playing Call of Duty and shut up.

Im 15 now, looking to join the military. I remember the way everyone used to fantasize about the military and guns and things BACK IN YEAR 6 though. Using a Gun in the military is like 4 jobs: Regular soldier, sniper, RAF Regiment, and something else. There is about 150 other jobs available, and without them the gunners are nothing. That's what we get told at air cadets for the people fantasizing about pilots and planes. Without the ground crew planes are worthless ****.

The main reason making children fantasize about the military is the video games obviously - but that'll wear off and they'll realise that the reality is much different. For example in Afghanistan out of about 20 encounters with the taliban with gunfire, the soldiers saw the insurgents twice. TWICE. And there's no certainty they even got any kills.I love video games, but younger children need to realise that they aren't the same as the reality.

Fallout4: Pakistan has the largest standing Army, stop thinking the USA is #1 at everything. Yes the USA has a good military but Britain has harder training so arguably better soldiers, we've just got poor technology.

Any way like myself some people have been brought up by a parent in the military so they're used to the life style, nothing to do with games. And with your own country having a long standing history with the Military and Wars, you'd bound to be highly interested.

It's like routing for your favorite football team. Except a lot more will happen to the loser than bruised egos. American's love their military.
