The History of the Belief of Wong Tai Sin in Guangdong

In Chinese Folklore of Wong Tai Sin :
In 1897, a group of scholars liked to spend their spare time by playing " Fi Ji " in Panyu. During the supernatural process of " Fu Ji " , they asked Wong Cho-ping to set up a altar. In the same year, at the 10th lunar month, Wong Cho-ping gave them the name of the would-be altar as " Pu Ji " ( Literally : Universal Relief ). Then Wong Cho-ping was repected as their " Xian Shi " ( Literally : Fairy Teacher ) by the scholars. They called him " Wong Tai Sin ". The scholars became not only his disciples but Taoist Priests.
