Please do not mind I write in English.

My candid comments are as follows:

1) In late 90s, HK birth rate dropped for economic recession. We have deflation for 5 consecutive years. This situation was worsen in early this century and reached the peak in 2003, when HK has the serious SARS issue. After that, HK Govt. has signed CEPA with mainland China and our economy started to grow again. And since 2004, I found the birth rate increased again. Our Donald Tsang has even recommended the families to give more birth in 2009. It signals the determination for birth rate rise in recent years.

2) The aging of population happens elsewhere, not limited in HK. More old people migrated to mainland in their remaining decades of life for high cost living locally. But due to better hygiene and technology, it is expected this problem will continue to expand. We must accept, but the policies for the old are not kept updated and moderned that their demand has posted a large burden and urgency for our government to handle.

3) Population rise can be seen due to increase of birth rate, the aging of population in HK and the migration of more mainland families / professionals to HK. Since our land area is a constant, only if we could increase the land supply could we enjoy a similar living environent. Else, citizens are forced to live in limited area and tolerate the high flat price. This is a large social issue we are encountering.

4) The sex ratio is not obviously changed, still roughly 53% vs 47%. However, there are increasinf rate of female not married until 30 and it sounds more younger females are single and available. This may create a sex ratio problem or the maintain of birth rates ( due to reducing no. of couples ) in the future,
