Let y=2x+(1/x^2). Find dy/dx from first principles

dy/dx = lim (h → 0) {[2(x + h) + 1/(x + h)2] - [2x + 1/x2]}/h

= lim (h → 0) {[2(x + h) - 2x] + [1/(x + h)2 - 1/x2]}/h

= lim (h → 0) {[2h] + [x2 - (x + h)2]/[x2(x + h)2]}/h

= lim (h → 0) 2 + lim (h → 0) [-2hx - h2]/[hx2(x + h)2]

= 2 - lim (h → 0) [2x - h]/[x2(x + h)2]

= 2 - 2x/x4

= 2 - 2/x3
