For exam preparation, you must read your grammar workbook. You don't have it?

Present perfect: something happened in the past but have a connection with present, usually used without a time reference. Used when words 'since' and 'for' appear when 'since' refers to year and 'for' refers to duration.
e.g. I have turned on the fan. (the fan is still on now - connection with present)
Present perfect continuous: emphasize the continuous action up to now and the action has a connection to the present, very similar to present perfect. Just emphasize on the continuity.
e.g. I have been reading since three o'clock. (emphasize the action is continuing)
e.g. I have been reading for one hour. (emphasize the action is continuing)
Both sentences imply 'I am still reading now'.

Past perfect: something happened in the past and have a connection to another past event, usually used without a time reference.
e.g. I had inputed the data before Kenny used the computer.
Past perfect: an action/ event/ state happened in the past but does not apply to the situation now.
e.g. I had lived in Paris when I was studying. (means 'I' once lived in Paris, but now 'I' do not live in Paris)
Past perfect continuous: an action/ event/ state lasted for a period of time in the past but has ended, it cannot apply to the situation now.
e.g. I had been living in Paris for 10 years. (Emphasize the past action lasted for a period of time; however, the past action does not last up to now)
This means only 'I' had once lived in Paris for 10 years, but now 'I' do not live in Paris.

Reading your own grammar workbook is more helpful than online enquiry. It will be more accurate for you to refer to your grammar book/ notes, and ask your teacher.
