Here is another way to do it.

log4(2) +log9(2x +5) = log8(64)

First you have to evaluate log4(2) and log8(64)
Let y = log4(2)
4^y = 2, y = 0.5 (4^0.5 = square root of 4)
Let z = log8(64)
8^z = 64, z = 2 (8^2 = 64)

0.5 +log9(2x +5) = 2
log9(2x +5) = 2 – 0.5 = 1.5 = 3/2
log9(2x +5) = 3/2
9^(3/2) = 2x + 5
(3^2)^3/2 = 2x + 5 (note 2 times 3/2 = 3)
3^3 = 2x + 5
27 = 2x + 5
2x = 27 – 5 = 22
x = 11

Note:
You have to know the definition of logarithm
a^b = c is equivalent to log a(c) = b
10^3 = 1000 is equivalent to log 10(1000) = 3

Also
(x^2)^3 = x(2 times 3) = x^6

logx(y) where x is base (y) is value to be log

log4(2)+log9(2x+5)=log8(64)
log4(4^(1/2))+log9(2x+5)=log8(8^2)
(1/2)log4(4)+log9(2x+5)=2log8(8)
1/2+log9(2x+5)=2
log9(2x+5)=3/2
log9(2x+5)=3/2log9(9)
log9(2x+5)=log9(9^(3/2))
2x+5=9^(3/2)
2x+5=27
2x=22
x=11
